This lead rope is made with a loop instead of a splice on snap hook. The lead is tied directly to the rope halter or a snap, which can then be attached to a rope halter, normal halter, neck rope with ring, etc.: you get to choose whether to use it with or without a snap, or switch between the two. In the other end of the lead is an end splice like on the other leads, giving it a nice and pretty finish.
This set includes a snap hook in 100% stainless steel, which fits the lead perfectly. It is 80 mm long, seriously good quality, super durable, doesn't rust even when exposed to harsh weather, while being a green choice — stainless steel is one of the most sustainable metals due to its recyclability 💚
The 'slim' leads are made from 10 mm rope, and are therefore both smaller and lighter than the classic 14 mm leads. This type of lead rope is great for smaller ponies due to the decrease in weight, but can absolutely be used by all horse people with all horses!
It can be used for groundowork, walks, and can even be tied into reins — it's actually excellent for reins, due to being narrower than normal leads. A true 2-in-1 piece of equipment. You could even say that this lead is 3-in-1: lead without snap, lead with snap, and reins!
Depending on how the lead is tied, it is recommended to choose either 3 or 3,7 meters if to be used as reins. A 3 meter rope is about 2,5-2,8 meters long reins when tied (depending on method), where a 3,7 meter lead makes about 3,2-3,5 meter long reins. If tied to reins, a 3 meter lead is usually best suited for points, while 3,7 is better for horses, but it also depends on personal preferences for rein lengths. Please measure a pair of your reins if in doubt.
The lead is available i 4 standard lengths:
2 meters: standard lead rope length
3 meters: for those who prefer a little more length
3,7 meters: corresponding to the popular 12' lead, often used in the US
6,7 meters: corresponding to the popular longer 22' lead, often used in the US
