Size guide

Find the size that's just right

Don't know which size to choose for your horse? Read along and follow the guide to choosing the right size:

ROPE HALTERS

Generally, the rope halter sizes match typical halter sizes. So if your horse uses size cob in halters and bridles, it should fit a rope halter in size cob.

Is your horse between sizes, and e.g. sometimes uses size cob, and sometimes size full, it's generally best to choose the larger size, as a rope halter that's too big can be adjusted tighter, but one too small won't fit!

However, it's a good idea to measure your horse to find the size that'll fit the best, if you're in doubt. Here's how:

  1. Find a tape measure.
  2. Measure your horse around the muzzle as shown in the picture. Place the tape measure where you can feel the bone above the nostril starting, or around 2 fingers from the cheekbone. Make sure the tape lies evenly around the muzzle and doesn't slide down.
  3. Read the measurement and compare with the size chart below. The measurement "muzzle circumference" should be the the samme or bigger than the measurement you just made. You can compare the measurements A-F with a halter or rope halter you already have.

All measurements from A-F are measured between the knots.

NB: The model "Knotless Rope Halter — Round" has different measurements as compared to the table above, excluding F. This is due to the "knots" on this model being smaller than the true knots on a normal rope halter. Therefore, the measurements are adjusted to take this difference into account, so the same size on a knotless and normal rope halter fits the same in pratice.

Example

Ragga measures 60 cm around the muzzle. A size cob is 62 cm in muzzle circumference.

Below is Ragga in a sidepull in size cob, and as you can see it's not a tight fit even though the muzzle circumference is only 2 cm larger on the halter. That is due to the rope halter adapting to the horse's head — therefore the horse can have the same measurement as the halter.

You ca always get a custom made rope halter without extra costs. It can be all individual measurements, or in between two size, like cob and full. Just write info@requinerope.dk or on social media, and we'll figure something out.

By the way, if you buy a rope halter and find it juuuust a bit small, don't worry! The knots on the halter will tighten over time with use, and will get a tad larger after time. (does not apply to knotless rope halters).

NB: Because the rope halters at Requine Rope are made to order the right of revocation is withdrawn. That means, that if you order something in a wrong size, you cannot get a refund for this reason. However, we've decided that our customers can get up to 50% of the payment back, if they regret their purchase. Read more under right of revocation.

NECK ROPES
Adjustable neck rope

The adjustable neck rope comes in 3 sizes: S, L and onesize.

Size onesize adjusts from 115 to 220 cm in circumference, and fits almost all horses, small to big.

But, it can be annoying having to adjust the neck allll the way out, not being able to use the double-side, of you have a very big horse, and vice versa if you have a very small pony...

That's why Requine Rope carries two extra sizes, which fit the really small and really big horses!

Size S adjusts from 85 to 160 cm, and fits shetties, minishetties and other small ponies without adjusting it all the way in.

Size L adjusts from 145 to 280 cm, og fits big, wider horses and draft breeds the best, without having to adjust it all the way out.

Size onesize fits horses from size pony to full the best. Size S fits from size x-mini to pony the best, and size L fits size full to xx-full the best.

Neck rope with ring or tassel

This type of neck rope can't be adjusted, which is why there are maaaany sizes to choose from. It is on purpose that the sizes are not called pony-cob-full... as for rope halters and reins, because many horses' neck/chest doesn't at all fit with its head size. So a horse using cob in halters can easily be a size XL in neck rope if it has a wide chest or a size S if it's narrow.

That's why it's important to measure your horse before buying a neck rope with ring or tassel.

How to measure your horse for a neck rope:

  1. Find a tape measure.
  2. Adjust the tape measure to one of the sizes above, e.g. 150 cm.
  3. Place the the tape measure around the horse's neck, and move it around a little as if it were a neck rope.
  4. Adjust the tape measure to a smaller or bigger size, until you find the size that fits best.

Neck rope sizes are very individual, and some like lots of length so it feels like reins, and some like it very snug. It's up to you to find the size you prefer!

Watch the video to see size S, M and L on Ragga, who measure 143 cm around the neck.

You can always get a custom size, if your preferred neck rope size is in between measurements. Just contact Requine Rope on mail or social media, or write the desired measurement in the comment field at checkout.

For sizes larger than XXXL, a small fee will be added due to extra material use, depending on the desired size (typically 5-30 DKK). Contact us first if you want a size larger than XXXL.
